Detailed description of Rolling Hills Country Club, Antlers Golf Course

Rolling Hills Country Club, Antlers Golf Course, once private is now a Semi-Private, open to the public, 18 hole golf course located in Fort Johnson, New York. Rolling Hills Country Club, Antlers Golf Course opened in 1928. The course was designed by William H. Tucker.

Some of the main difficulties to this course are the blind approach shots to the greens. In addition, water hazards (two lakes) come into play on four holes and several sand bunkers have been incorporated into the course design.

Par for the course is 70. From the back tees the course plays to 6,326 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,287 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 8, a par-5 that plays to 567 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 14, a par-3 that plays to 171 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 8, the 567 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Rolling Hills Country Club, Antlers Golf Course is # 14, the 171 yard par-3.

#1, a 430 yard par-4 requires a driver off the tee, but trees outline both sides of the fairway. For the approach shot, players must avoid a water hazard on the front left of a back-to-front sloping, crown-edged green. Both #1 and #2 are straight forward, the rolling hills become a factor beginning on #3.

#6 is a 185-yard downhill par-3 with three greenside bunkers protecting the putting surface. For first-time players it’s a guessing game of how much to adjust for the downward slope.

#15, a 346-yard par-4 ia a blind, uphill tee shot, but there is ample space on both sides of the fairway, so players can pull out their most trusted club or attempt to get as close as possible with the drive.

#16, a 209 yard par-3 is much like #6, with a straight downhill layout with a sand trap on the left and out-of-bounds behind the green.

You have to tee off over several active roads. The course boarders a gun club, so you have constant shotgun and rifle shots. The Bev Cart was AWOL. The staff were very unfriendly. Lot's of blind shots. Not a great experience. Go to Fox Run or Pioneer Hills for a better golf experience.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles
Bottom line: Better courses for less nearby, Worse than average course for the area
